About Me

I am Siyu You, a final-year B.Eng. student in Electronics and Information Engineering at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), completing a dual-degree program in Electronics and Electrical Engineering at the University of Glasgow. I received First Class Honours at Glasgow.

My research sits at the intersection of signal processing, wireless and wearable sensing, and machine learning for sensor data. I am particularly interested in robust time-series representation learning, human sensing, non-destructive testing, and physics-informed AI.

Research interests

  • Signal processing and time-series analysis
  • Wireless, wearable, and physiological sensing
  • Internet of Things and sensor intelligence
  • ML/AI for sensor data and non-destructive testing

Work experience

Xiaomi - Wearable Algorithms Team
Algorithm Engineer Intern, Mar. 2026 - Jun. 2026

Developed wearable algorithms from physiological and motion signals. My work included VO2 max estimation, reducing internal-validation MAPE from 18% to 9%; long-distance running performance prediction; and validation on real wearable devices for integration into an upcoming Xiaomi product.

Interests and hobbies

Outside research, I enjoy playing piano, traveling, and photography. I also enjoy helping create musical events and communities, and previously served as President of the UESTC Piano Association.
